Monastery of Jerónimos Library

Established in 1984, the library includes documents, books, university theses, iconography, catalogues and magazines with relevant information for the study of the Monastery of Jerónimos, Tower of Belém and surrounding areas, and the Age of the Discoveries. Its holdings can be searched on a Unimarc-Bibliobase since 2001.
There is free access to the library, with limited borrowing privileges. Direct access to the shelves can be made by employees only.

A computerised catalogue is available at the library or Bibliobase
Portable computers can be used.

Main Themes and Target Users

The main themes are History, Art History, Architecture and similar arts, information about the Monastery of Jerónimos, Tower of Belém and surrounding areas, Order of Saint Jerome and the Age of the Discoveries.
For employees, researchers (students preparing their Masters and PhDs), students of all levels, professionals.

From Monday to Friday from 10.00 to 13.00 and from 14.00 to 17.00
