The Côa Valley landscape is indelibly marked by open air rock art bearing witness to different pre-historic monuments, such as the greatest Paleolithic rock art formation ever known.

Due to being an outstanding example of early art creation, these Paleolithic rock art sites were listed on UNESCO’s World Heritage List in December 1998.
